Welcoming Sally Vering: Empowering Entrepreneurs as Our New Capital Access Business Consultant

Nov 21, 2024

We’re thrilled to welcome Sally Vering to our team at the Women’s Business Center (WBC). As our new Capital Access Business Consultant, Sally brings a wealth of experience, an inspiring entrepreneurial journey, and a deep passion for empowering others to achieve their dreams. Her story is one of resilience, transformation, and an unwavering commitment to helping entrepreneurs succeed.

From Paralegal to Entrepreneur

Sally’s professional journey has been anything but ordinary. Starting out as a paralegal and managing a law firm, she gained invaluable experience in navigating complex systems and problem-solving. But her career took a remarkable turn in 2015 when she engaged with her local Women’s Business Center. Their guidance gave her the confidence and tools she needed to launch her own business—an educational and rental program based in Yellowstone National Park.

Known fondly as the “bear spray lady,” Sally’s business not only catered to outdoor enthusiasts but also made a real impact on people’s lives. She vividly recalls how her safety education helped a family avoid tragedy and save their 10-year-old son. “Without the WBC, I would not have gotten the contract and would have never started my business,” she shared.

Following the Call of Mt. Shasta

After successfully running her company for six years, Sally sold her business in 2021. Unsure of what was next, she felt an undeniable call to Mt. Shasta. Though she initially returned to her roots in Bozeman, Montana, where she continued her work with a local WBC helping clients secure funding, the pull of the mountain remained strong. It was only a matter of time before she made the move to Northern California to join our team.

Paying It Forward

Now settled in Mt. Shasta, Sally is excited to pay forward everything she learned as both a business owner and consultant. Her focus is clear: helping clients access funding through traditional or creative means. Sally is especially passionate about alleviating the fears many entrepreneurs face when it comes to financing their ideas.

“Don’t let fear hold you back,” she encourages. “Getting started early with funding and planning can make a world of difference for your vision.” Sally emphasizes that many visionary entrepreneurs overlook or shy away from financial planning, but this preparation is essential for long-term success.

Changing the Narrative Around Numbers

One of Sally’s missions is to shift the way entrepreneurs view numbers. She admits that there was a time when she, too, felt daunted by financial data. “I used to say I’m not a numbers girl, and look what I do now!” she laughs.

For Sally, numbers aren’t a hurdle—they’re a stepping stone. She believes that empowering clients to embrace financial literacy can transform not only their businesses but also their confidence. “Numbers are your friend. They are not frightening,” she asserts. By demystifying this crucial area, Sally hopes to make it a source of empowerment rather than anxiety.

Looking Ahead

With Sally’s arrival, our clients have an incredible new resource in their corner. Her unique background, combined with her firsthand understanding of the challenges entrepreneurs face, makes her an invaluable asset. Whether it’s securing funding, planning for growth, or simply finding the courage to take the first step, Sally is here to help.

We’re honored to have her on our team and can’t wait to see the positive impact she’ll have on the visionary entrepreneurs who walk through our doors. Please join us in welcoming Sally Vering to the Women’s Business Center family!
