Trinity County’s Witches Brigade Returns to Weaverville: A Celebration of Community and Commerce

Weaverville, a quaint escape from the hustle of Redding, has long been known for its scenic beauty and outdoor adventures like white-water rafting and hiking. But this October, it also plays host to the much-anticipated return of the Witches Brigade, an event that combines community spirit, local business support, and festive fun.

At the Women’s Business Center (WBC) at JEDI, we are proud to serve the small business communities of Shasta, Humboldt, Siskiyou, and Trinity counties. Our recent collaboration with the SBDC at the Trinity Capital Summit highlights our commitment to fostering meaningful relationships with local entrepreneurs. Supporting events such as the Witches Brigade aligns with our ongoing mission to uplift small businesses in the region and create opportunities for engagement, visibility, and economic growth.

Now in its 6th year, the Witches Brigade has become a beloved tradition in Weaverville. This family-friendly event sees participants of all ages don their finest witch attire and parade through town on creatively decorated broomsticks. From bicycles to hobby horses, the spirit of the event is one of lightheartedness and joy, with local businesses actively joining the celebration. Trish Harris, President of the Weaverville Chamber of Commerce, describes it as "wildly fun and a great way for adults and families alike to enjoy the day." Many adults turn the event into a festive pub crawl, while the younger crowd delights in the whimsical procession.

The parade route winds its way from the library to the golf course, with local businesses along the way offering discounts, drink specials, and Halloween-themed promotions. "It’s a win-win," says Trish. "Not only do we have a great time, but local shops and restaurants benefit from the increased foot traffic and community engagement."

Ryan Crocket, another key voice from the Weaverville Chamber, echoes this sentiment, adding, "The Witches Brigade is truly what you make of it—whether it’s a family outing, a date, or a gathering with friends, everyone can enjoy the festivities in their own way."

For local entrepreneurs, the event offers more than just a day of fun. It’s an opportunity to showcase their businesses and connect with the community. From seasonal merchandise to special treats and offers, Weaverville's small businesses are at the heart of this celebration.

At the WBC, we believe in the power of events like these to build strong ties within our communities and support the vibrant network of small businesses that make towns like Weaverville so special. Our thanks go out to the Weaverville Chamber of Commerce and the Trinity Journal for their continued support in making the Witches Brigade a memorable and successful event.

As we continue our mission to support local businesses, we invite you to follow the WBC at JEDI and join us in championing the entrepreneurial spirit of our region.
